Member of the guild since 2005 and was on Region 14 committee from 2009 firstly as newsletter editor, then briefly area rep and then joint coordinator with Jackie Ledger from 2013 to 2016.
This included helping to organise and run the annual AGM and conference in Harrogate in 2015.
Recently I have taken up the post of Bursaries Officer for the Guild.
Learnt to patchwork English paper piecing when I was 12 and made floor cushions in 70's but didn't know about quilting
Returned to patchwork in 2004. Learnt at Sheffield College with Carolyn Gibbs who taught me all the basics, is a great teacher and now Carolyn is a good friend
I enjoy many aspects of quilting especially contemporary quilting and hand stitching but like to learn and stretch myself. Although I do a lot of machine work and some experimentation with dying, printing and felting techniques I still have a love of English paper piecing!
Other Tutors I have enjoyed doing courses with include Pat Archibald, Phillipa Naylor and best of all Ineke Berlyn who is sadly no longer with us but who was a very inspiring and generous tutor.
I have run mini teaching sessions at my local quilting group in Sheffield and mini workshops at regional days and last year (2019) I ran both a 'Quick and Easy' and 'half day workshop' at the Festival of Quilts.
I have also given some talks at groups where I love sharing my passion for quilting.
I have also facilitated some stitching sessions on local acute mental health wards.
I am in the very slow and gradual process of retiring to the north east where we have a lovely house and last year I had a small but beautiful garden studio 'my posh shed' built where I can relax and sew.
I like working on several projects at once
Outside of quilting
Live in Sheffield with husband Dave (we got married in 2013 after 29 years!) our son Oliver and 3 cats. Our daughter Carmen lives down near Glastonbury and is expecting our first grandchild in September - exciting!!

From 2012 to 2017 I was a director/trustee of small charitable company that supports people with mental health conditions to develop creative and inspiring enterprises including arts, gardening , music and more recently football!
I enjoy good food, reading novels, rock music and have a secret passion for sci-fi and fantasy watching e.g Dr Who, Game of Thrones etc!
