Hand Quilting in Norfolk 2013

Our Area Day in Swaffham was well attended with 24 taking part in either the handquilting workshop or sewing their own projects. After meeting and chatting with others over coffee and delicious homemade cakes there was a chance to browse the Guild Sales table and ‘Betty’s Bring and Buy’ (and make a few purchases!). Then on to watch Jill Sharpe demonstrating Sashiko and look at the display of historic quilting including two beautiful full size quilts. There were also examples of crazy patchwork and Italian quilting in the smaller items on display which included tea cosies and lingerie cases.

The mini handquilting workshop with Liz covered transferring a pattern to fabric, making patterns, different types of thread and needles with a chance to try some that you may not have used before.

After more coffee and cake the day was rounded off with drawing the raffle and a very popular show’n’tell with a variety of lovely items shown.

I would like to say a big thank you to all who came along and especially to those who helped in any way.  On my part, the time seemed to whizz by and we could easily have stayed another hour!
